TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
Words are easy. Action reveals who we really are !
Welcome to day 12! I’m thankful you have hung in there. We’re already more than half way through!
Please join me in prayer: Lord, I ask You to invade my inner man–the exact place where You and truth need to dwell. Thank You, Amen!
It’s very easy to say, ‘Jesus is Lord!’ But very hard to let Him be Lord in everything! We promise this. We make commitments for that. But to turn those words into real-life action is extremely difficult.
When I first told my pastor, in 1980, that I believed that God wanted me to go into the USSR to share my faith, he didn’t know how to advise me. He later confessed that his thoughts were: ‘That’s not safe. That’s unpredictable. He could get arrested. Etc.’ But he encouraged me. And I went. Never imagining that that little step of obedience would end up changing my life for the next forty years.
It was just an impression. It was kind of like, Paul, after he saw the vision: .. “we immediately sought to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” Acts 16:10
My actions embodied my words! But I can’t say that about everything. And Jesus knows this. And He’s patient with us! David got the principle of not striking out against God’s anointed down! But David didn’t get the principle down about many wives. ‘They will make him turn away from the Lord!’ Deuteronomy 17:17
And this is just like us. We honor God in one place and dishonor Him in another. Jesus laments: “Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, but do not do what I say?” Luke 6:46: Mercifully, His Word goes on to say: “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ!” Philippians 1:6
The more your actions converge with your words, the sharper the 'tip of your spear’ will be and less double minded and the more stable you will be! (James 1:6)
My prayer for today: Lord, be Lord of everything! Amen!
