Do you have a ‘Nathan’ who can speak into your life?

Welcome to day 17!  Please pray with me:  Lord, I can’t be all You’ve created me to be alone. You’ve designed me to walk out Your calling in me with others!  You sent them out, “two by two!”  (Luke 10:1) And, “two are better than one.  (Ecclesiastes 4:9)  Lord, open my eyes and heart to one or two others who can keep me on the ‘sharpening anvil!’ Amen!

Today I was talking to my friend who told me an interesting story.  He visited a friend and saw that his foot was in a cast.  What happened?  ‘Oh, nothing!’  But the cast told a different story.  ‘It can’t be nothing,’ my friend insisted, ‘you can hardly walk.’  The guy with the cast finally told my friend that his foot was completely crushed when he accidentally dropped a huge furnace on his foot.  But my friend went a little deeper, and asked him: ‘If your automatic response to a physical problem is ‘Oh, it’s nothing,’ could that be your automatic response to any other problem too?’  And this opened a deeper conversation.

Do you have a ‘Nathan?’  Do you want one?  In my small group, during the retreat, one of the guys made the comment, “On the one hand, I would love to have a friend who is a prophet of God and hears directly from God for me.  But on the other hand, maybe not.”  Do you sense the tension?  I want to hear God, but God may expose me too.  This is the exact tension that is needed for us men.  A friend who will not only walk with me in my ‘shadow of death,’ but also call me out of darkness when I walk in sin!

My prayer for today: Lord, connect me with a few other men, who will be a ‘Nathan’ for me.  Let me discover the power of Your Word that says: “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that you ask, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.”  Matthew 18:19 Amen!
