The heart is the man! And the pure in heart see God.
Yesterday I was chatting with a guy who was at the same wedding as me. I told him about writing these devotionals and a common theme that I had was: The heart is the man. And he immediately said, “I’ve been meditating on this verse from the sermon on the mount. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!” Matthew 5:8. And the Lord revealed a new aspect of seeing God that I never knew.”
The obvious understanding is that when our heart is in full surrender and alignment with His desires for us we get a deeper perception of God’s presence, glory and peace. But this guy added this incredible point. “This is not just for us. Having this pure heart also gives us the eyes to perceive God in other people!”
I like that! What surprises God can give to us when we’re walking out our life with others who are also following Jesus!
A Ukrainian brother once reminded me: The Bible doesn’t say, ‘I have the mind of Christ,’ but it does say ‘we have the mind of Christ!’ 1 Corinthians 2:16 So we continue to hang out! We continue to pray together. We continue in the “Apostles’ teachings.” And we continue to “break bread” together. Acts 2:42
So we continue! This is the sure way to get our hearts sharpened which is the ‘tip of our spear!’ Together we get purified. Together we get sharpened. Together our hearts are revealed and God gets to purify our hearts. Together we see God everywhere!
My prayer for today: Lord, I thank You for the men who have walked out this 21 day commitment. Lord, I pray that You’ve touched them, and You’ve given them hope. I also pray that You’ve inspired them to be connected more deeply with Your Spirit! Only by being together can we be ‘the Bride of Christ!’ Lord, we make the decision to walk out our faith honestly along with other followers of You! Amen!
