Responsibilities include training, encouraging, recruiting, scheduling oversight, communication, troubleshooting, and helping each team understand its role in the larger mission of the church.

    2. Pastoral Care and Ministry

The Associate Pastor will serve as a pastor to the congregation through regular care, presence, prayer, and shepherding.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Helping people feel seen, known, and cared for in the life of the church

This role requires a heart for people, the ability to listen well, and a desire to shepherd the congregation with wisdom, humility, compassion, and biblical faithfulness.

    3. Connecting New People to the Life of the Church

The Associate Pastor will serve as a primary point of contact for new people at Crossroads, helping them move from first-time attendance to meaningful involvement.

    • Connecting people into ministries such as Kids, Youth, Young Adults, Men’s, Women’s, and other church ministries

    • Helping identify gifts, interests, and appropriate places of service

    • Helping to recruit volunteers for broader ministry needs

The goal of this area is not merely to fill ministry slots, but to help people find spiritual family, purpose, and meaningful participation in the body of Christ.

    4. Newcomer’s Starting Point Class

The Associate Pastor will assist with and help provide consistency for the Newcomer’s Starting Point Class in coordination with the elders and church leadership. This is a four-week class held two to four times per year.

    Responsibilities include:

    5. Life Groups and Small Groups

The Associate Pastor will oversee connection to Life Groups / Small Groups, helping people find places of relational and spiritual community.

This responsibility is distinct from formal discipleship oversight, which is led by another pastor

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting Life Group leaders

    • Helping identify and develop potential group leaders

    • Disseminating benevolence funds appropriately

    • Maintaining healthy accountability, wisdom, and compassion in benevolence decisions

    • Keeping appropriate records and communication with church leadership

    • Faithful in pastoral care, prayer, confidentiality, and spiritual discernment

    • Willing and able to preach occasionally

    • Experienced in local church ministry, pastoral ministry, or related leadership

    • Theological training and/or ministry experience will be of benefit

    Reporting and Accountability

The Associate Pastor of Connections will serve as part of the pastoral staff of Crossroads Christian Fellowship and will work under the direction of the Lead Pastor and/or elder-appointed leadership structure.

This role will work closely with:

    • Lead Pastor

    • Elders

    • Staff team

    • Ministry leaders

    • Life Group leaders

    • Sunday morning team leaders

    • Benevolence Team

    Ministry Priorities

The Associate Pastor of Connections should help Crossroads grow in the following areas:

    1. New people are noticed, contacted, and invited into deeper connection.

    2. Sunday mornings are welcoming, organized, and spiritually hospitable.

    3. Volunteers are recruited, trained, encouraged, and cared for.

    4. People are connected into discipleship, serving, ministries, and Life Groups.

    5. The sick, homebound, grieving, and hurting receive pastoral care.

    6. Benevolence is handled with compassion, wisdom, and integrity.

    7. The church increasingly feels like a spiritual home, not merely a place to attend.

    Personal and Spiritual Expectations

The Associate Pastor should model a life of accountability, humility, prayer, integrity, spiritual maturity, and love for the church. He should demonstrate faithfulness to Scripture, commitment to the gospel, and a desire to see people come to know Christ, grow in Christ, and use their gifts for the glory of God.  This person should not merely manage ministries, but pastor people through those ministries.

The Associate Pastor of Connections will play a vital role in helping Crossroads Christian Fellowship become a place where people are welcomed, known, discipled, cared for, and sent into meaningful ministry. This role exists to help people move from the edges of church life into the life of the body — connected to Christ, connected to one another, and connected to the mission God has given Crossroads.

    Compensation

Pay is $50,000-$70,000 depending on experience and education.
